Description

5-string Double Bass - String length 107 cm

An exceptional double bass made in Styria, Austria (200 km south of Vienna). An early work of Georg Jauk, who later worked in Graz. A beautiful bass made in the Viennese pattern, perfectly restored by Domonkos Gellert in Budapest in 2026. The old back and both C-Bouts were already replaced and got renewed in the restoration process this year. A very accessible bass due to the narrow shoulders, but with a thunderous sound, comfortable to play and rewarding in sound.

A repair label of Adolf Stowasser in Graz around 1900 is found in the bass.

We are selling this instrument in cooperation with Domonkos Gellert.
