Description

4-string Double Bass - String length 105.5 cm

A very old and very rare double bass, made most probably by the inventor of the double bass tuners himself, Anton Bachmann. Beautiful, decorated scroll with hidden tuners under the plate. Something rarely seen on double basses. The bass bears many repairs but is in playable condition – which is reflected in the relatively low price for such a beautiful, old instrument. A solobass with lot’s of character and a unique, projecting sound. This bass was played as his favourite instrument by Erich Hartmann, bassist in the Berlin Philharmonic, for over 50 years.
